Sam S. Bloom Foundation Grant

The Arvada Community Food Bank is proud to announce that we are first time recipients of a grant for $2,000 from the Sam S. Bloom Foundation. The Foundation offers grants for programs that provide an array of services aimed at bringing self-sufficiency to members of highly motivated at risk populations, particularly family units with infants and young children. The funding from this grant will be used in support of our Bridges to Opportunity program.

ACFB honored to be chosen as one of this years grantees.

Beginning November 1st, you can book your Colorado Gives Day donation to the Arvada Community Food Bank.

 

Please help us reach our goal of $75,000 this year to help us respond to the emergency needs of our northern Jefferson County neighbors.

ACFB is recognized locally and nationally for the quality of services, superior management and contributions to our community. Recognized by Charity Navigator with its 4Star rating, ACFB is the only food pantry in Colorado outside of the nationwide Feeding America Network to achieve that status. We have passed the rigorous vetting to become a Better Business Bureau Accredited Charity. And, we became the Arvada Chamber of Commerce’s first Nonprofit of the Year in 2015.

Thanks to the $1 Million Incentive Fund from Community First Foundation and FirstBank, your donation goes further on Colorado Gives Day. Community First Foundation and FirstBank each contributed $500,000 to create a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day receives a portion of the fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated.

Wells Fargo Assists ACFB with $2,500 Grant

Wells Fargo has awarded the Arvada Community Food Bank $2,500 for general operating expense. ACFB is currently in a period of growth in our services to clients and modifying our physical space to accommodate our strategic initiatives. The gift from Wells Fargo will provide ACFB flexibility to accomplish our goals and meet our mission objectives. We are grateful that Wells Fargo has continued their support again in 2017.

City of Wheat Ridge Awards ACFB $11,300

The City Council of Wheat Ridge has awarded the Arvada Community Food Bank $11,300 as part of their  2018 Outside Agency Contribution Program. This award underscores the City of Wheat Ridge’s commitment to support partner agencies like ACFB that provide services to their citizens. The 2018 award is an increase of 25% over 2017.

The Arvada Community Food Bank has served residents of Wheat Ridge in need of food or other assistance since 1982. The Cities of What Ridge and Arvada share a boarder along the I-70 corridor where the number of low income households and the homeless is highly concentrated. The award from the City of Wheat Ridge is important to ACFB in addressing the needs in individuals and families those neighborhoods.

ACFB Awarded $5,000 by City of Westminster Human Services

The City of Westminster Human Services Board has awarded a grant of $5,000 to the Arvada Community Food Bank (ACFB) for 2018 to offset the cost of providing Westminster residents that ACFB serve.

The significance of the this grant signifies the growing partnership between the City of Westminster and the Arvada Community Food Bank. The award of $5,000 more than doubles the support provided for 2017 and reflects the rise in the number of Westminster households seeking assistance.

ACFB has served Westminster residents in need for over 35 years. In 2016, ACFB assisted 629 Westminster households (a total of 1,467 people) experiencing hunger. Additionally, 24 Westminster citizens worked with the Bridges to Opportunity program to increase their own self-sufficiency.

Community First Foundation Awards $15,600 Grant

The Arvada Community Food Bank has been awarded a $15,600 grant from the Community First Foundation in support of our Feeding the Future program and Client Choice Pantry. Support for these core hunger relief efforts are essential to the mission of the Arvada Community Food Bank. Feeding the Future, our children’s weekend snack program, is highly underfunded and the Community First  Foundation grant will play a significant roll in assuring it’s success this school year.

Community First Foundation serves as a connector, partner, collaborator and resource to fuel the power of community for the greater good in a variety of ways, including grantmaking.

Expertise in finance, brand marketing, fundraising, human resources, and social services are valued. Strong community ties and prior nonprofit experience is a plus. You need not live in Arvada to apply.

Feeding the Future School Supply Drive

This year, the principals of the schools we serve have asked us to gather extra school supplies so that teachers have a supply on hand for children of families who struggle with the cost of purchasing them. You can help by dropping these supplies off at the food bank during our normal drop off times, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Feeding the Future supply needs for our schools:

  • Composition notebooks
  • Post it stickies
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Colored pencils
  • Pens
  • Colored markers
  • Crayons
  • Glue sticks
  • Small personal hygiene items (body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, lotion)
  • Socks, underwear (sizes preschool through grade 5)

Steuben’s Arvada Dine Back Nets $1,240

Steuben’s Arvada July 11th Dine Back event for the Arvada Community Food Bank broke the record and generated a $1,240 donation for the Food Bank. Steuben’s has been a great supporter of ACFB since it opened several years ago. A second Dine Back Tuesday is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7th -Election Day. VOTE FOR THE FOOD BANK!
